On this page, you will find local resources designed to support families caring for victims of sexual or violent crimes in South Yorkshire.

Victim Support help anyone affected by crime – the victim, friends and family or others involved. You can get help at anytime regardless of when the crime took place. Victim Support help you to:

  1. Feel safe and secure.
  2. Understand your rights and services you’re entitled to.
  3. Explore ways to cope.
  4. Connect you to support networks.

Sheffield Domestic Abuse Co-ordination team provide a directory of support service for those who are victims or survivors of domestic abuse. They also have a helpline.

South Yorkshire Children’s SARC provides a child and adolescent friendly environment for 0 – 16 year olds from across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw who have been victims of sexual assault or rape.

The Young Womens Housing Project is based in Sheffield offering supported accommodation and therapeutic provision to young women aged 16-25, and their children, who have been affected by sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and intimate partner abuse.

Sheffield Women’s Counselling and Therapy Service provides free and confidential counselling and therapy services for women in Sheffield who have experienced abuse or trauma.

The Snowdrop Project provides holistic and long-term community-based support to survivors of human trafficking. The long-term holistic approach covers all key support needs, including independent living, physical and mental wellbeing, community engagement and education and employment.

South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association provide non-judgemental support to people affected by eating disorders. They also provide a list of other mental health services in South Yorkshire.

Sheffield Talking Therapies offer therapy to those with anxiety, stress, depression or living with a long term physical condition.

The Local Offer lets parents and young people know what special educational needs and disabilities services are available in Sheffield, and who can access them.

Mind provides advice and support to anyone struggling with their mental health.

Beacon South Yorkshire provide free emotional and physical support to all carers.
